Calgary, you are rad.
It was an absolute pleasure to play the Calgary Folk Club last night.
The first concert of their 41st season was a total blast. 400 or so loving attendees, a wonderful staff putting the whole thing together, your humble narrator and his musical cohort, and finally, Tom Taylor, Barney Bentall and Shari Ulrich.
Barney, Tom and Shari really played great. Their voices sounded amazing together, and the songs were a pleasure to hear. An excellent job was done by front of house sound engineer Rob, and monitor engineer Landis, as well – these cats really nailed it. It can be tough to mix acoustic music, but not here, not this night.
Jonas and I were driving around in a rented Ford Edge, which is a sweet ride. There was a backup-camera! It was luxurious. We stayed at the local Holiday Inn and were blown away by two fantastically beautiful women working behind the desk – they were long gone by the time we got back from the gig, which shows you about how famous we are.
Also, a killer burger and beer were had during the afternoon at the Hose and Hound pub in Inglewood. Thanks Calgary!
