Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame
Well the nominees for this year’s induction into the rock and roll hall of fame are out – the list includes Deep Purple (I can’t believe they’re not in) and N.W.A. (not exactly rock and roll, but cool), and Canada’s own RUSH.
Deep Purple should already be in – that’s a travesty. It’s sure nice to see Rush getting a big pat on the back, though. They’ve been at it a long time and EVERY record they’ve EVER made has gone gold. Quick, name another band that can say that!
This does, however, bring me to something I’ve been thinking about lately. Bill Henderson is one of the best singers and songwriters Canada has ever produced. Gone, Gone, Gone. Fly By Night. Lonesome Mary. The list goes on and on. He’s a legend. My dad also had the privilege to play with Bill for many years in Chilliwack. I love the guy. Bill is YET to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame – and I think that’s just wrong. On the weight of Gone, Gone, Gone alone the guy should clearly hold a place among the best in Canadian music history.
Please take a minute to sign this petition to have Bill (rightfully) inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame. Hum a few bars of Fly By Night to yourself and try to tell me otherwise!
